Payment fraud concerns land Eftsure on AFR’s Fast 100 for 2nd year running
Eftsure is officially the 36th fastest-growing Australian company according to the AFR’s Fast 100 List for 2024.
As another step in our mission to build an international network of security-minded organisations, Eftsure has recruited a Vice President of Strategy and Portfolio Management: Sydney-based Ben Smith.
This follows Eftsure’s expansion into the US and its appointment of global Chief Executive Jon Soldan, steps that illustrate the business’s rapid growth – and an urgent need to counter growing scam losses across the United States and Australia.
While Australia has seen some progress in reducing cybercrime-related losses for individual consumers, digital scams like business email compromise (BEC) attacks remain serious risks for business payments. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) estimates that $50 billion is lost to domestic and international BEC scams – just one of the fraud risks that Eftsure’s payment protection platform helps mitigate.
As the market’s leading payment protection platform, Eftsure safeguards nearly $24 billion in B2B payments each month and works with customers like PepsiCo, Chobani, BlueScope and Hertz.
Smith brings over 25 years of experience in management consulting and SaaS leadership across Australia, Europe, and the US, with a focus on driving scalable growth and excellence in hyper-growth environments. He was most recently the APAC Regional Vice President of Customer Value Management at Coupa Software, where he was responsible for the customer business across the region for over five years.
Smith was heavily involved in the evolution of Coupa’s global customer success framework and practices, and built an APAC team that provided class-leading services and outcomes to all customers across the region.
Before Coupa, Smith led teams at organisations like KPMG, ANZ and BP.
“I’m thrilled to join Eftsure at this exciting stage of its growth journey,” says Smith. “Like Coupa, Eftsure is a business that leverages the power of the community to deliver exceptional value to all.
“This community approach aligns perfectly with my passion for taking a customer-first approach to support scalable growth in a business. I look forward to working alongside the talented team at Eftsure to shape our next phase of success.”
CEO Jon Soldan sees Smith’s addition as a “vital” step in Eftsure’s evolution.
“Ben’s laser-focus on customers, as well as his extensive experience in building successful teams across multiple regions, will be vital as we continue to pursue Eftsure’s mission in the US and beyond.”
“At Eftsure, our mission is to make business communities safer and to ensure payments never go to the wrong people. We’re excited for Ben to join us on this mission – his expertise will be critical in our new phase of growth.”
